Activity Details
Time needed: 20–30 minutes
Materials needed:
Setup:
What do you and your friends like to do for fun? In this
children’s budget activity, plan out some things you can do and act it
out for each other. Pick one and create a budget worksheet for how
much it would cost for your fun day.
Activity:
Have Brownies (2nd and 3rd graders) brainstorm ideas for a fun day of adventure. It might be a trip to the zoo, an amusement park, or going bowling.
Brownies can work in smaller groups to come up with a budget using the “Fun Budget” worksheet and then regroup to compare notes.
Help Brownies with costs for their line items.
Make sure their budget includes everything they’ll need to pay for, including travel, tickets, and food. Does the place they’re going offer a group rate? If so, let Brownies know they can pay less if they go as a group.
