United Airlines is proud to support Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) to ensure that all youth are encouraged and have access to explore STEM programs and careers. By engaging youth members in critical STEM programs, including one-day events, patches, challenges, Leadership Journeys, badges and workshops, United is hoping to inspire future aviators.
Through the partnership with United Airlines, GSUSA will be building resources and training adults to deliver STEM programs that broaden the variety of STEM opportunities available for Girl Scouts. Studies show that girls who participate in Girl Scout STEM programs become more confident in their math and science abilities and more interested in STEM subjects and careers (Girl Scout Research Institute, “Decoding the Digital Girl,” 2019). In the next ten years, United will hire more than 10,000 pilots and, in supporting GSUSA, hopes to motivate Girl Scouts to pursue careers in aviation.
United Airlines looks forward to seeing Girl Scouts use their STEM skills to solve a problem, express their creativity through technology, take action to protect the environment, and learn about how aviation can connect people and unite the world.
