IF/THEN an Initiative of Lyda Hill Philanthropies and Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) has joined forces to invest in and help raise the profiles of women in STEM and inspire the next generation of girls to consider STEM careers. Through the shared mission of the IF/THEN Initiative and STEM Pledge Girl Scouts has developed STEM Career Exploration badges for girls in grades 2nd – 8th. The badges provide girls with the opportunity to explore their career interests and connect to STEM fields—particularly computer science, nature/environmental science, engineering, design, health, and agriculture—that can help them address the pressing issues of our time and change the world. Girls explore dynamic women in STEM (IF/THEN Ambassadors) through videos featured in The IF/THEN® Collection, a free, downloadable digital asset library of real life women in STEM, an integral component of the STEM Career Exploration badges.
Additionally, Girl Scouts in partnership with nine Girl Scout councils is piloting an alternative volunteer model specifically focusing on connecting troops with STEM professionals.
When girls explore what women can achieve in a STEM career, they see the powerful connection between science and making the world a better place. If they can see it then they can be it! Exercise your creativity and see how women in STEM careers are changing the world with these digital coloring pages.
