Tori, an Ambassador Girl Scout from Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey, always knew she wanted to use her cookie earnings to help kids who were less fortunate than her. That’s why, for the past six years, she has run and contributed to a Christmas toy drive benefiting Family Promise, an organization that helps house and transition homeless families in her community.
“There is nothing more rewarding than knowing that I am changing the lives of many children,” she said.
As part of Troop 46434, Tori also sells cookies to raise money in support of various community service projects, such as donating backpacks to community shelters, as well as educational trips, like a recent visit to the local aquarium. This year, the girls also plan to use some of their cookie earnings toward completing a Girl Scout Gold Award project.
When asked about her favorite part of participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, Tori says she likes meeting new people and learning social skills along the way. “We've met some really great people who love to share their stories about their cookie-selling days as well as their experiences in Girl Scouts,” she said.
Great work, Tori and Troop 46434! We’re so glad to hear you’re out there learning and giving every chance you get. Your community is a better place because you’re part of it!
