Activity Details
Time needed: 30–45 minutes
Materials needed:
- Paper
- A pencil or pen
- A computer, tablet, or phone with internet access
Setup:
Research and development (R&D) is often the process companies use to get valuable information when making or improving products and services. The goal is to make sure that the product or service adds to a company’s financial goals. Do some R&D of your own by setting up a system for tracking cookie sales based on what you want to measure. Use what you discover to develop a sales strategy for the future.
Activity:
Take some R&D time to figure out how effective your Girl Scout Cookie business is. First set up a system for tracking results based on what you want to measure. If you’re focusing on new ways to market to your customer base, such as emails or flyers, you may want to analyze response rates. Once you’ve figured out what you want to measure, keep consistent records so you can analyze the results at the end of the sale and use the information to plan for the future.
You may want to find out:
- Which sales trends are most important to track and why?
- What are your plans if your R&D shows that your business is ineffective?
- How will your results affect how you sell cookies in the future?
