Troop #45065 from Girl Scouts of Oregon and SW Washington saved long and hard to do its part in building a better world. The Senior troop saved two years’ worth of Girl Scout Cookie earnings to travel to the Amazon basin in Ecuador and help build a high school.
Some Ecuadorian students walk five hours to attend school, hauling a week’s worth of food with them. Working through the Canadian nonprofit ME to WE and the Donald A. Wilson Secondary School in Toronto, Canada, these extraordinary girls took action and made a long-lasting contribution to the small, hardworking community along the Napo River.
What an incredible group of risk-takers and leaders. Thank you, Troop #45065, for powering education and changing the world through your passion, dedication, and social entrepreneurship. This is what it’s all about!
