At only seven years old, Olivia S. has proven to be one brave Brownie—and we’re elated to have her featured on our brand NEW Samoas®/Caramel deLites® cookie boxes! This second-year Brownie and karate student hails from Queens, New York, where she’s been a Girl Scout for over three years. Within her troop, she’s known for her innovative cookie-selling strategy, her kindness, and her courageous spirit to try new things.
“Being part of the cookie box photo shoot was lots of fun because I got to play with the rollercoaster as part of the photos and make new friends,” Olivia says. “I’m also excited because I can’t wait to tell my family and friends about this. I’m so proud!”
Over the years, Olivia has gone on tons of adventures with her Girl Scouts sisters—from having a sleepover at the Maritime Aquarium in Connecticut to learning about fire safety at Camp Kaufmann to discovering how marine environments can be restored through the Billion Oyster Project. She doesn’t shy away from trying new things, even when they’re intimidating. For example, Olivia had some anxieties about getting out and about in nature.
“I used to be afraid of camping, the woods, and animals that might be dangerous,” says the born-and-raised city girl. “With Girl Scouts, I have been able to do different outdoor and camping activities, where I learned about first aid, fire safety, fishing, and different animals and how they can help the environment.”
Not only is Olivia one brave Brownie but she’s also an innovative cookie seller. Last year this cookie boss set a goal to sell 305 Girl Scout Cookie boxes. Through her hard work, money management, people skills, and tech savvy, she surpassed her goal with flying colors! From her mom’s office to her dad’s restaurant (and even karate class!), Olivia sells cookies by engaging with potential customers at the next level through things like making customized videos for friends and family explaining each cookie variety. She even goes the extra mile to send thank-you notes with personalized drawings to everyone who bought a box of cookies from her.
“She went to a Girl Scout day camp over the summer, and I saw a change in her ability to try new things,” Olivia’s mom Tara says. “I’ve seen her grow and develop into a kind, brave person, and this always comes back to Girl Scouts. From helping your neighbor and other acts of kindness, this all resonates as the program grows along with her.”
In her time as a Girl Scout, Olivia has repeatedly given back to her community through good deeds like making a garden for her school and pooling her troop’s cookie money to buy much-needed gym equipment for the school. Additionally, Olivia and her mom have collected and donated backpacks full of school supplies along with a positive message to give to children at local homeless shelters. No matter what she’s doing, Olivia always makes sure to add a special touch so others know that they’re valued and she cares!
The new Samoas/Caramel deLites boxes show a thoughtful girl beaming with confidence alongside her Girl Scout sisters. We’re looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Olivia as she continues to embrace every challenge with bravery and compassion!
