Although small in numbers, Brownie Troop #16350 from Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta is overflowing with heart. In 2016, the girls (in their first year as Girl Scouts) decided to use a portion of the earnings from their Girl Scout Cookie sales to make “blessing bags” for their local homeless shelter. In the spring, the girls dropped off the bags at the Lawrenceville Church of God, which is affiliated with Family Promise of Gwinnett County, where the girls initiated their inspiring service project.
“I’m so proud of my troop for all its help, support, caring, and effort,” said troop leader Fanny Cartujano. “Our [blessing] bags had three meals and two healthy snacks along with napkins and utensils. They even included an inspiring message/quote.” At such a young age, these girls are helping others in big ways, and Fanny can’t imagine what they will do in the years to come.
Way to take the lead like a Girl Scout, girls!
