Girl Scouts of the USA has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. This standing helps us advance our efforts at the United Nations as we provide input on issues that have a global impact. Girl Scouts of the USA works with local councils and Girl Scouts to bring issues to the United Nations so we can work towards a better world for girls and women everywhere.
Girls Opportunity Alliance toggle arrow
In 2019, Girl Scouts launched the national Girls’ Access to Education civic engagement toolkit for girls in grades K–12. Developed in partnership with the Girls Opportunity Alliance (a program developed by the Obama Foundation to empower adolescent girls around the world), the toolkit helps girls examine issues surrounding girls’ education—including access, quality, and achievement—from both national and global perspectives. Girl Scouting and Girl Guiding can be the magic thread which links the youth of the world together

—Juliette Gordon Low

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts USA is part of the largest voluntary movement dedicated to girls and young women in the world. That movement is called the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), and it represents ten million Girl Scouts and Girl Guides from 152 countries.
