Hiking the Swiss Alps: June 24–July 7, 2023

Two weeks in Switzerland. One WAGGGS World Center. Several pots of fondue. Mountains galore for hiking. And plenty of new friends and memories to be made.

About the Trip

Take the Swiss hiking challenge with your fellow Girl Scouts! This experience will be full of adventure, challenge, nature, new friends, and lots of fun.

The trip will include a week-long visit to Our Chalet, one of the five WAGGGS World Centers, where you’ll hike some of the most popular trails, go rock climbing, learn about Swiss culture, and make new friends from around the world.

Before the week at Our Chalet, you will go sightseeing in other Swiss cities–you and your Girl Scout group will plan the adventure yourselves!

Who Should Apply?

  • Age: Girl Scouts entering grades 9–12 or those who will have just graduated 12th grade in summer 2023. (Note: An interview is required to complete your application process. We will reach out to you if you are a final candidate.)

  • Interests: Hiking and the outdoors

  • Requirements: Ability to be outside and hike for extended periods

  • Equipment: Passport. The packing list will be created by the group after acceptance.

  • Ignite Your Passion! This trip is great for Girl Scouts who are interested in the outdoors and other cultures.

The Cost

Program fee: $3,000 (The actual program fee for this Destination is $3,750, but all girls who participate will receive a $750 scholarship through a generous gift from the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund.)

The program fee includes round-trip airfare from Chicago, Illinois, to Switzerland. Girl Scouts will need to arrange transportation to and from Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

Deposit due upon acceptance: $400

Financial aid may be available. Check with your local council.
