The Alps and the Mediterranean Coast: July 17–July 29, 2023

From the mountains to the sea in four countries, explore the culture and natural beauty of Switzerland, Italy, France, and Spain.

 

About the Trip

This trip will offer Girl Scouts an amazing opportunity to explore the beauty of the Alps and the Mediterranean Coast through visits to Switzerland, Italy, France, and Spain.

You’ll start your journey by spending two nights at Our Chalet, one of the five WAGGGS World Centers, in Adelboden, Switzerland, where you will meet fellow Girl Guides and participate in a special pinning ceremony and a scavenger hunt through Adelboden. Your journey continues with a trip to that will take you to the winding, cobblestone streets and past the fairytale homes of Lucerne, one of Switzerland’s most picturesque cities. Here, you can choose to enjoy a Swiss Alps experience or attend a Swiss fondue evening, or both!

Next, you’ll explore the beauty of the Mediterranean shores of Cinque Terre, Italy, and the French Riviera, with a stop in Monaco to take in the sights and sounds. You will go on a walking tour of Nice and visit Provence to discover what inspired Picasso and Van Gogh. You’ll conclude your tour in Barcelona, where you’ll explore the La Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, and the Magic Fountain of Montjuic.

You can choose to explore Barcelona by bike or attend an evening of flamenco. This trip is meant to inspire a love of travel through an exploration of the food, culture, and natural beauty of these regions.

Who Should Apply?

  • Age: Girl Scouts entering grades 9–12 or those who will have just graduated 12th grade in summer 2023

  • Interests: Culture and cuisine

  • Requirements: Comfortable around those who speak a different language from you, able to walk up to 5 miles per day with high daytime temperatures (90–100 degrees Fahrenheit with high humidity), and willing to attend virtual meetings before the trip

  • Equipment: Passport

  • Ignite Your Passion! This trip is great for Girl Scouts who are interested in art and culture.

 

The Cost

Program fee: $5,200

The program fee includes airfare from Boston to Switzerland. Girl Scouts will need to arrange transportation to and from Boston, Massachusetts.

Deposit due upon acceptance: $345

Cancellation policy: This tour is organized in collaboration with EF Tours; please review its cancellation policies.

Financial aid may be available. Check with your local council.
