About the Trip
Have you ever wondered how robotic assistants on Earth and in space are controlled? How your electronic information is protected from hackers? Learn how companies, including NASA and other government agencies, protect our electronic assistants and information from cyber threats and hackers. You will learn programming skills and meet with professionals to learn more about their work in the cyber technology field. Using real-world examples, provided by the FBI and other sources, this week will teach you how to avoid and/or recover from a multitude of cyber threats.
Who Should Apply?
Age: Girl Scouts entering grades 7 - 9 in summer 2023 (ages 12-14).
Interests: space science, history, technology
Requirements: ability and interest in working in a computer lab for a large portion of each day. This program us open to U.S. citizens only, due to travel to the Redstone Arsenal Army Installation.
Equipment: Packing list to be provided after acceptance
Ignite Your Passion! This trip is great for Girl Scouts who are interested in careers in computer science, data analysis, cyber fields and technology.
The Cost
Program fee: $1,349
The program fee does not include airfare. Girl Scouts will need to arrange transportation to Huntsville, AL.
Deposit due upon acceptance: $300. (This deposit is already included in your trip program fee.)
Final payment due: no later than April 26, 2023
Financial aid may be available. Check with your local council.
