About the Trip
If you are a problem solver, a change-maker, or a community leader who uses your voice to fight for what is right, this is the Destination for you. Take a journey back through the civil rights era and explore how our justice heroes started a national movement for equal rights in the American South. And work with other Girl Scouts to learn how teens continue to answer the call for justice through grassroots organizing and bold action.
During this journey through the past, present, and future, you will join Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta to tour iconic civil rights locations in Atlanta, Montgomery, and Selma. You’ll explore the rich history of the South and its role in progressing the civil rights movement as well as in fostering new movements through the decades since. Beyond these immersive experiences, you will learn about unique platforms, like sports and the arts, that continue modern-day civil rights movements. We will also engage in social justice self-care to ensure personal wellness and movement sustainability.
This Destination is so much more than a tour of sites! It is a unique opportunity to build meaningful relationships with your peers from around the country, learn about the issues facing people from all different backgrounds, and help one another create sustainable solutions for social justice problems.
