About the Trip
Explore the treasures of Japan past and present, from the bustling streets of Tokyo to the ancient temples of Kyoto. Stroll through sacred shrines, visit the Great Buddha of Kamakura, and catch a glimpse of majestic Mount Fuji. Feast on a tempura dinner, learn about the Japanese art of sumo, and enjoy an overnight stay at a traditional inn, called ryokan.
Girl Scouts who travel on this Destination will gain a rich global perspective and appreciation for other cultures while fostering their own independence.
Who Should Apply?
Age: Girl Scouts entering grades 10–12 or those who will have just graduated 12th grade in summer 2023
Interests: Culture and cuisine
Requirements: Comfortable around those who speak a different language from you, able to walk up to 5 miles per day
Equipment: Passport

The Cost
Program fee: $5,200
The program fee includes airfare from Los Angeles to Japan. Girl Scouts will need to arrange transportation to and from Los Angeles.
Deposit due upon acceptance: $200

Financial aid may be available. Check with your local council.
