Beaches to Mountains – Exploring California’s Central Coast

Calling all adventure lovers! Come explore California’s Central Coast, home to beach towns, mountain vistas, and one of America’s most beautiful national parks.

About the Trip

Start your California Destination with a visit to the cool beach town of Ventura. You’ll learn how to surf like a local and spend time out on a kayak! We’ll also journey 20 miles out into the Pacific Ocean to visit Channel Islands National Park, a collection of five islands that are home to some of the most unique animals and plants on earth! Back on land, we’ll spend time exploring a jewel of California’s Central Coast, the historic and beautiful city of Santa Barbara.

In Ventura, we’ll be staying in cabins at Camp Arnaz, a 36-acre Girl Scout property with tons of fun activities to enjoy when we’re not out exploring the region. From archery and astronomy to horseback riding, hiking, and BB gun shooting, you’ll make new friends while enjoying some classic Girl Scouts high adventure. And, of course, we’ll enjoy skits, songs, and campfires!

Who Should Apply?

• Age: Girl Scouts entering grades 8-12 in summer 2023
• Interests: outdoor activities, adventure, and nature.
• Requirements: you must know how to swim, be able to be outside in hot temperatures, be open-minded about trying new things, and be able to work as part of a team.
• Equipment: Packing list will be provided after acceptance.
• Ignite Your Passion! This trip is great for Girl Scouts who are interested in the environment.

 

The Cost

Program fee: $750.00

The program fee does not include airfare. Girl Scouts will need to arrange transportation to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

Deposit due upon acceptance: $250. (This deposit is already included in your program fee.)

A nonrefundable deposit will be due once selected. Payment due dates will be provided in the acceptance letter (the balance is due about eight weeks prior to the trip). Once excursions are booked, fees cannot be refunded unless we can get the funds back from the vendor.

Financial aid may be available. Check with your local council.
